Private charter fishing & boat trips

2 Hour Private charter Needles boat trips

Close up views of the famous Needles rocks & lighthouse and Alum bay coloured sands.

Available from April to October on any day that we're not already booked on fishing trips.

Maximum of 8 people per trip

Please see further down this page for availability of these trips.

Departing from Keyhaven on board Osprey II our sightseeing trip takes you slowly down the river then out into the Solent passing close to Hurst Castle before following the main shipping channel out to the Needles for some great close up views of the famous rocks and lighthouse, if the sea conditions are suitable we will then venture a little further past the Needles and into Scratchells bay with views of the former rocket testing site high up on the white cliffs that stretch along this part of the Isle of Wight into Freshwater bay.

From there we will return round the Needles once again and follow the foot of the cliffs into Alum bay with it's famous coloured sand cliffs, after leaving Alum bay it is a slow gentle cruise along the island shore taking in the sights through Totland bay, Colwell bay and passing close to Fort Albert and Fort Victoria before crossing the Solent once again back into Keyhaven.

For the birdwatchers there are usually plenty of different species to see on the marshes and mud flats at Keyhaven and sometimes a seal or two puts in an appearance, then there are Cormorants and various Gulls on the Needles rocks and occasionally Gannets and Terns can be seen diving into the sea to feed too. Over the last few years Dolphin sightings around the Needles area have become more common than ever before, obviously we can't guarantee that you'll see them but keep your eyes peeled and you never know you may just get lucky.

There's no recorded commentary here our trips are on a far more personal level, Greg your skipper will point out all the places of interest along the way and you're very welcome in the wheelhouse if you have any questions or would just like to have a look around, you can even have a go at driving the boat if you ask nicely.😎

There are no snacks or refreshments to buy on board the boat but you are very welcome to bring your own along to make yourselves a picnic at sea.

These 2 hour Needles sightseeing charters can also be booked for ashes scattering too.

We have always tried to keep our trip prices as reasonable as possible for our customers especially as we like to aim our charters at smaller groups of up to 6 people but over the last year or so our running costs have increased dramatically and up to now we have managed to largely soak up the extra costs. However the recent and ongoing huge increases in the price of diesel fuel for the boats is not something we could've planned for so not by choice we have been forced to raise the price of our charters a little to help cover the cost of the fuel now.

Apologies for the price increase and let's hope these crazy high fuel costs don't last too long.

Best wishes to all.
